The Festival is upon us! And we’ve been so busy running from one incredible musical moment to the next that we haven’t taken the time to give updates. A few highlights:
- Karin Mushegain and eight (count ’em – eight) cellos performing the Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 for Eight Cellos and Soprano on opening night
- Mike Marshall and Caterina Lichtenberg’s performance of Vivaldi’s Double Mandolin Concerto in G under the stars at Chapel Hill
- A delightful history of the rag by John Novacek at the “Classical Musicians Doing Decidedly Unclassical Things” concert
- Dinner in San Luis Obispo’s Mission Plaza, complete with a thoughtfully-executed menu inspired by the days of the California Mission from Big Sky Cafe
And in case you missed anything, here is a scrapbook from the first half of the Festival, with photos by Brian Lawler. And now, back to the music!
